Modes of analysis and data availability

The following table shows which types of data are available in different analysis modes. Where data or analysis types are not allowed, the purpose is to prevent users from viewing information that may not make sense within a given context. If a measure belongs to multiple types, it must be allowed in all applicable columns in order to be displayed. Refer to the glossary and "About types of data" for information about the terms used here.

1 - Unweighted records counts are available in this type of analysis, but weighted record counts are not.

2 - In views that show the average, total, or percent of the total (mix) for members, unique counts are only available if they can be summed meaningfully across dimension members. This has the following effects:

In views that show mix, key counts are only available if the dimension used to organize the data (1st By) matches the key of the count requested. For example, if the view were grouped by the customer dimension Region, then a count of customers would be available. However, a count of products would not be available, because the counts would not add up meaningfully across regions.

In views that show mix, dimension counts are only available if the 1st By dimension matches the dimension of the count requested.

3 - Virtual key data (i.e. data that enters the system at the dimension level rather than the key level) is not available in the following views: Exception, Exception Time, Scattergram, and key lists. Therefore, if budget data is virtual rather than key level, it will not be available in these views.

4 - Straight key counts (for example, unique customers) are only available in exception tests if the test is based on a different key. Straight dimension counts (e.g., unique brands) are only available if the count dimension is not a dimension of the key used in the analysis. Most calculations based on unique counts are available for use in an exception test. Netted unique counts are not available in exception tests.

5 - Fields that represent the number of days included in the date range. For the purposes of this table, day count fields include an actual count of days or calculations based entirely on counts of days. For calculations that include data (for example, average volume per day) refer to the additive, non-additive, or other causal data column, depending on the type of data involved.

6 - Temporal data fields are only available when comparing two date ranges (i.e. the time comparison is not single).

7 - Unique counts may be selectively disabled by your administrator in the following views: Key lists, Scattergram, and Geographic analysis.

8 - In special key lists that display mix values, non-additive and top-additive data are not available.

9 - The following widget types are not available when the current By is an allocation dimension or allocation key list:  Share Trend, Scattergram, Exception, Exception Time Series. However, allocation data may be available in these widgets when viewed by a regular (non-allocation) dimension.

10 - Causal data (except for key counts) is available in all key lists except those spawned from Scattergram views to show particular ranges of data.

11 - Measures consisting entirely of day counts are available in all key lists except the Mix key list or Share Trend (Percent) key list.
